Off-The-Clock Work
Concerns that employees are working off-the-clock have increased sharply over the last decade. Our experience has shown that there are several opportunities where violations might occur during an employee’s shift. Examples include time spent walking from the entrance of the company property to a work station at the beginning of the work day and back at the end of the day, performing duties after clocking out for breaks or at the end of the shift, and performing uncompensated work at home to complete tasks.
Lamorinda conducts time and motion observation studies to track precisely what work is performed during the work day including during breaks and at the end of the work day (closing). We calculate precisely how much time is spent working off-the-clock and the activities performed while off-the-clock. We also recommend changes in policy or procedures that will eliminate off-the-clock work.
